Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics

General Description

Although not new in the developed part of the world, the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ethical leadership are making first steps in gaining popularity in developing countries, with Armenia being not an exception. Nowadays many Armenians can hardly explain what constitutes to be a good corporate citizen, which is quite often confused with engaging in charitable activities. It is obvious that any for-profit entity is mainly concerned with earning and accumulating wealth, but the current worldwide trend is that this is not the only determinant of their existence and long-term success. More and more businesses realize that they do not operate in a vacuum; continuous interaction with different stakeholders is critical, with serious considerations for the environment, economically vulnerable populations, and the society as a whole.

In light of the above, it is therefore paramount to raise ethical competence and integrity standards of local managers for them to succeed in today's competitive and highly demanding world. With this in mind, the given training is aimed at familiarizing the audience with the theoretical framework for corporate social responsibility and business ethics, addressing the issues of its practical application, and exploring its contributions and limitations to the society.

Call for Fundraising Stories

General Description

Civic Development and Partnership Foundation (CDPF) announces call for Fundraising stories. The stories shall be submitted by Civil Society Organizations (CSO) of Armenia.

The primary purpose of this initiative is to encourage CSOs to diversify their financial sources and learn valuable fundraising experience. At present, due to the reduction of traditional grant funding and the emergence of new concepts such as corporate social responsibility, social partnership and philanthropy, there is a growing need for Armenian CSOs to enlarge their fundraising methods, which become one of the important means for financial sustainability of organization. Moreover, financial sustainability becomes one of the necessary preconditions for the non-profit sector to sustain and carry out its mission, since each organization needs to cover its operational expenses, keep human resources, and acquire assets.

Moreover, as a concurrent result, publication of Fundraising stories can promote culture of giving and outreach of new fundraising ideas to potential donors – state bodies, private sector and public at large. This will also enable the participants of this initiative to inform the large public about their organizations’ activities.

Terms of Participation

Fundraising stories should be submitted in a free-form style, maximum 2 pages. Fundraising stories shall focus on the following themes:

• The purpose of the fundraising initiative,
• Fundraising methods and other tools used (awareness raising, advocacy, meetings),
• Problems faced during the fundraising process and how these problems were dealt with,
• Results of fundraising initiative.

Also, we strongly encourage considering that in this context fundraising means raising of financial, material and human resources to generate a broader base of support for organization's activities, as well as a program or a project. Moreover, only those stories will be submitted that are not considered as grant financing (for example – sponsorship, fundraising events, fairs, etc).

For submission, please fill in the application and send it to tamara@cdpf.am and cc cdpf@cdpf.am not later than 25 November. Short-listed participants will be asked to send their fundraising stories. Please mention “Fundraising Story” in the Subject line.

Should any question arise, contact Tamara Yernjakyan by the following phone number:  (010) 519027 , 589535 or send an e-mail to tamara@cdpf.am.
