Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics

General Description

Although not new in the developed part of the world, the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ethical leadership are making first steps in gaining popularity in developing countries, with Armenia being not an exception. Nowadays many Armenians can hardly explain what constitutes to be a good corporate citizen, which is quite often confused with engaging in charitable activities. It is obvious that any for-profit entity is mainly concerned with earning and accumulating wealth, but the current worldwide trend is that this is not the only determinant of their existence and long-term success. More and more businesses realize that they do not operate in a vacuum; continuous interaction with different stakeholders is critical, with serious considerations for the environment, economically vulnerable populations, and the society as a whole.

In light of the above, it is therefore paramount to raise ethical competence and integrity standards of local managers for them to succeed in today's competitive and highly demanding world. With this in mind, the given training is aimed at familiarizing the audience with the theoretical framework for corporate social responsibility and business ethics, addressing the issues of its practical application, and exploring its contributions and limitations to the society.

General Description

Civic Development and Partnership Foundation (CDPF) was founded in 2006 as an Armenian non-profit organization. Its mission is to support the development of Civil Society by serving Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), particularly through capacity building assistance and grant management. Starting 2011 CDPF is implementing Community Support Project aimed to support Counterpart International in implementation of Civil Society and Local Government Support Program. Within this partnership CDPF is involved in provision of logistical and administrative support in events organization, as well as financial administration and management of community grants in Ararat, Armavir, Aragatsotn, Kotaik and Gegharqunik marzes.

Currently CDPF is seeking for CSP Project Assistant that will be responsible for provision of logistical and administrative support to the CDPF Regional Coordinators, financial administration and management of grants awarded to the communities, as well as implementation of other activities related to the Community Support Project.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • collect information and prepare necessary papers for contracting procedures;
  • serve as a primary contact between regional coordinators and CDPF head office;
  • ensure compliance of grant implementation with CDPF and donor financial and purchasing procedures and legislation requirements;
  • provide technical support to coordinators and grantees on financial management;
  • accept and review grantees’ financial documentation;
  • ensure timely financial transactions necessary for purchase and other payments within the grant projects;
  • support regional coordinators and grantees in documenting the cost share according to CDPF and donor requirements;
  • provide regional coordinators with logistic and administrative support on event organization and implementation (meetings, trainings, focus groups, etc.);
  • ensure proper technical and financial implementation of events and grants through periodic visits to the regions;
  • prepare progress reports on conducted activities;
  • support preparation of relevant financial reports;
  • maintain filing system of project and other relevant documentation.

 Additional Responsibilities (if time and workload allow)

  • Assist in CDPF accounting.
  • Provide specific CDPF services to clients as required.
  • Perform other tasks as required and assigned by the CDPF Director.

 Requaired Qualification.

  • Higher education in financial management, public administration, or any other relevant fields as per responsibilities listed above.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience with at least 1 year grants administration experience.
  • Knowledge of Armenian NGO sector.
  • Excellent Armenian verbal and written communication skills; English skills highly preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to plan, delegate and manage program staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet, e-mail).
  • Willingness and ability to work individually and in a team setting.
  • Ability to travel throughout the country (up to 40% of the time).
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Willingness to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
  • Knowledge of USAID and other donors’ grants and contracting procedures is an asset.
