Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics

General Description

Although not new in the developed part of the world, the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ethical leadership are making first steps in gaining popularity in developing countries, with Armenia being not an exception. Nowadays many Armenians can hardly explain what constitutes to be a good corporate citizen, which is quite often confused with engaging in charitable activities. It is obvious that any for-profit entity is mainly concerned with earning and accumulating wealth, but the current worldwide trend is that this is not the only determinant of their existence and long-term success. More and more businesses realize that they do not operate in a vacuum; continuous interaction with different stakeholders is critical, with serious considerations for the environment, economically vulnerable populations, and the society as a whole.

In light of the above, it is therefore paramount to raise ethical competence and integrity standards of local managers for them to succeed in today's competitive and highly demanding world. With this in mind, the given training is aimed at familiarizing the audience with the theoretical framework for corporate social responsibility and business ethics, addressing the issues of its practical application, and exploring its contributions and limitations to the society.

General Description

The training is designed for the NGOs heads and staff who want to develop their knowledge and skills in planning and implementation of advocacy campaign.

As a result of the training the participants will:

  • obtain new experience in the field of implementation of advocacy campaigns;
  • learn the principles of proper planning of advocacy campaign steps;
  • develop personal skills in development and presentation of advocacy messages;
  • obtain knowledge about lobbing implementation, as well as working with mass media;
  • identify effective coalition features.

Training topics and methods

The training covers the following topics:

1. presentation of the main advocacy ideas/definitions;

2. main advocacy concepts;

3. advocacy related concepts:

  • information, education and communication;
  • public relations;
  • community mobilization;
  • advocacy.

 4. planning for advocacy campaign steps;

 5. collecting information and issue identification;

 6. tools for issue clarification;

 7. setting final and intermediate goals:

  • political goals;
  • process goals;
  • goals related civil society;

8. defining target groups;

9. developing power map;

10. analysis of pro and con sides;

  • primary target audience;
  • secondary target audience;

11. development and presentation of the speech;

12. coalition formation;

13. Lobbing.

The training is held on interactive bases with combination of various teaching methods - brainstorming, presentation, debates, and role playing.

Those who successfully participated at the training (at least 80% of the training duration) will be awarded by completion certificate. The language of the training is Armenian.

The training will be delivered by Ashot Hakobyan, who has many years' experience in providing consultation and training to local and foreign different institutions of civil society in the sphere of advocacy.

Location and Dates

The duration of the training is 12 hours: April 13-14, from 10.00 to 17.00. The training will be held at Civic Development and Partnership Foundation (CDPF) office, at 11/5 Proshyan Street, Yerevan.

Registration Cost and Procedure

Participation fee 28600 AMD without VAT (34320 AMD including VAT).The fee includes cost of handouts, lunches and coffee breaks. For more than one participant from the same organization a 10% discount is provided starting from the second participant’s fee.
