Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics

General Description

Although not new in the developed part of the world, the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ethical leadership are making first steps in gaining popularity in developing countries, with Armenia being not an exception. Nowadays many Armenians can hardly explain what constitutes to be a good corporate citizen, which is quite often confused with engaging in charitable activities. It is obvious that any for-profit entity is mainly concerned with earning and accumulating wealth, but the current worldwide trend is that this is not the only determinant of their existence and long-term success. More and more businesses realize that they do not operate in a vacuum; continuous interaction with different stakeholders is critical, with serious considerations for the environment, economically vulnerable populations, and the society as a whole.

In light of the above, it is therefore paramount to raise ethical competence and integrity standards of local managers for them to succeed in today's competitive and highly demanding world. With this in mind, the given training is aimed at familiarizing the audience with the theoretical framework for corporate social responsibility and business ethics, addressing the issues of its practical application, and exploring its contributions and limitations to the society.

General Description

Civic Development and Partnership Foundation (CDPF) leads the development of Civil Society, through partnerships and by providing advice, funding and capacity-building support to civil society organizations that include formal and informal efforts.

We envision CDPF to be a leader, committed to collaborate with civil society actors in identifying and addressing civic challenges as well as bringing together a variety of resources and services in its support. Consistent with our mission, CDPF works to enhance the development of civil society organizations. In particular CDPF strives to:

  • Provide high quality services that are responsive to the development needs of civic society organizations, including capacity building and improving standards of service provision
  • Implement initiatives aimed at significantly improving the culture of civil society
  • Contribute to the partnership of various organizations and sectors in Armenia by developing and introducing different mechanisms of collaboration
Currently CDPF is seeking a Director, who will be responsible for supervising, coordinating and managing operational, strategic and programmatic aspects of CDPF activities, including but not limited to overall staff supervision and management, financial management, CDPF external and internal communication, fundraising, PR and Marketing.

Major Responsibilities

  • Coordinate development and supervise implementation of CDPF strategic, annual and other plans in accordance with the organization’s mission;
  • Proactively represent CDPF in interactions with international, governmental, national and regional entities in order to promote cooperation and services of the organization;
  • Coordinate development and supervise implementation of CDPF financial planning, analysis and reporting systems and perform necessary financial management functions;
  • Provide overall management support to the staff to achieve the milestones and targets set up in the annual plans of the organization;
  • Develop and coordinate implementation of CDPF PR and Marketing activities;
  • Lead, supervise and oversee fundraising activities;
  • Manage specific CDPF projects if required;
  • Provide specific CDPF services to clients if required

Required Qualifications

  • Higher education in political science, public administration, MBA or any other relevant fields as per responsibilities listed above
  • Minimum 5 years work experience with at least 2 years management level experience in Civil Society sector with special focus on development
  • Knowledge of Armenian Civil Society sector
  • Work experience in international organizations and knowledge of major donors’ policies and procedures is an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to plan, delegate and manage program staff
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues
  • Excellent Armenian and English verbal and written communication skills; Russian skills highly preferred
  • Adequate computer skills
  • Ability to dedicate sufficient time to major responsibilities
  • Willingness and ability to work individually and in a team setting
  • Willingness to perform other duties and work irregular hours
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Ability to work under pressure
