Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics

General Description

Although not new in the developed part of the world, the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ethical leadership are making first steps in gaining popularity in developing countries, with Armenia being not an exception. Nowadays many Armenians can hardly explain what constitutes to be a good corporate citizen, which is quite often confused with engaging in charitable activities. It is obvious that any for-profit entity is mainly concerned with earning and accumulating wealth, but the current worldwide trend is that this is not the only determinant of their existence and long-term success. More and more businesses realize that they do not operate in a vacuum; continuous interaction with different stakeholders is critical, with serious considerations for the environment, economically vulnerable populations, and the society as a whole.

In light of the above, it is therefore paramount to raise ethical competence and integrity standards of local managers for them to succeed in today's competitive and highly demanding world. With this in mind, the given training is aimed at familiarizing the audience with the theoretical framework for corporate social responsibility and business ethics, addressing the issues of its practical application, and exploring its contributions and limitations to the society.

Communication and Partnerships with Local Authorities

Training

Civic Development and Partnership Foundation (CDPF) and Association for Democracy Support and Human Rights (DEMAS) offer an exclusive opportunity for Armenian regional non-commercial non-state organizations to gain knowledge and skills on Communication and Partnerships with Local Authorities and to get acquainted with international experience in this area through participation in a free one-day training.

About Training

The training covers the following topics:

-          Partnership between NGOs and public administration at the local level,

-          Partnership between NGOs and public administration at the regional level,

-          Partnership between NGOs and public administration at the national level,

-          Working groups – How we can implement these principles in our community?

-          Public participation in the decision making process,

-          Strengthening the local NGOs community.

The training will consist of theoretical part and will be conducted in an interactive manner, including discussions, exercises and presentation of examples of how NGOs make use of the concept.

The training will be delivered by Roman Haken, the Executive Director at the Center for Community Organizing (CCO).

The language of the training is English, consecutive translation to Armenian is provided.

Location and Dates

The duration of the training is one day:  July 2, from 10.00 to 16.30, The training will be held at Civic Development and Partnership Foundation (CDPF) office, at 11/5 Proshyan Street, Yerevan.

Application Procedure

The participation in the training is free: the selection of participants will be conducted on competitive basis. The training is primarily targeted at regional civil society organizations, though Yerevan-based organizations may apply to be considered in case if seats are available. The transportation fee for regional participants is provided by organizers (only public transportation fee will be covered). There is no reimbursement provided for overnight stay.

To apply for the participation in the training please fill in the application form (in Armenian) and send to training@cdpf.am by June 27, 2013. The applicants will be notified on the selection results by June 30, 2013
