Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics

General Description

Although not new in the developed part of the world, the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ethical leadership are making first steps in gaining popularity in developing countries, with Armenia being not an exception. Nowadays many Armenians can hardly explain what constitutes to be a good corporate citizen, which is quite often confused with engaging in charitable activities. It is obvious that any for-profit entity is mainly concerned with earning and accumulating wealth, but the current worldwide trend is that this is not the only determinant of their existence and long-term success. More and more businesses realize that they do not operate in a vacuum; continuous interaction with different stakeholders is critical, with serious considerations for the environment, economically vulnerable populations, and the society as a whole.

In light of the above, it is therefore paramount to raise ethical competence and integrity standards of local managers for them to succeed in today's competitive and highly demanding world. With this in mind, the given training is aimed at familiarizing the audience with the theoretical framework for corporate social responsibility and business ethics, addressing the issues of its practical application, and exploring its contributions and limitations to the society.

Legislative Processes in Armenia

Description

The seminar is addressed to organizations and individuals interested in familiarizing with public administration system and legislative processes of Republic of Armenia, as well as learn opportunities of public participation in these processes.

The topics to be covered at the seminar are as follows:
• Types of legal acts and their hierarchy in Republic of Armenia (RA). Public administration system of RA.
• Legislative process in RA National Assembly: procedures and terms of law adoption, public participation opportunities, the role of standing committees, parliamentary hearings
• The website of RA National Assembly and the purposes of its use
• Legislative processes in RA Government, ministries, presidential staff, bodies adjunct to the Government. Specifics of budgeting process
• Legislative processes in local self-governance bodies. Types of local legal acts, procedure of adoption, relations of local self-governance bodies, local referendum

The seminar will be led through lectures, Q&A, and discussions.

The seminar will be conducted by Head of Legislative Activity Services Department of RA National Assembly Tatul Soghomonyan, who has more than 15 years experience working in parliament and about 5 year of lecturing experience. The National Assembly website will be presented by Lilit Hovhannisyan, who has significant experience in using it for carious programmatic purposes.

Those who successfully participated at the training (at least 80% of the training duration) will be awarded by completion certificate.

Location and DatesThe duration of the seminar is two days: October 24, 10.00-16.00 and October 25, 10.00-14.00. It will be held at Civic Development and Partnership Foundation (CDPF) office, at 35 Jrashat Street, Yerevan.

The cost and procedure of registration

Participation fee is 23500 AMD for a person without VAT (28200 AMD included VAT). The fee includes cost of handouts and coffee breaks.

For more than one participant from the same organization 10% discount is offered starting from second participant.

For registration form, please contact Tatevik Margaryan, CDPF Organizational Development and Training Specialist at tatevik@cdpf.am or cdpf@cdpf.am until October 21. Please note that the deadline for seminar registration is October 22, 2008.

Note. the payment for the training shall be done within 5 days after the training. In case of canceling participation, the registered person should note CDPF about that at least one day before the seminar, and in this case no fee will be required.
